What exactly is in a McDonalds ‘special sauce’?

As consumers, we have every right to actually know what is in our food, and where it has come from.

Its YOUR body and you have a right to know!

Unfortunately, this can be quite a tricky question to ask a fast food outlet. They just can’t tell you what you are eating, and what the source is. The answers, if you manage to get any, are vague.

I have tried asking on many occasions, and most recently I asked at McDonalds what was actually IN the sauces that they used – I was handed an ingredient manual to look up myself.

Have you ever wondered what is actually IN some of the items you buy from McDonalds?

Here is an ingredients list for some commonly used sauces at McDonalds :

Ok. So when I make homemade BBQ sauce – I use about 5 ingredients. If you purchase good quality BBQ sauce from the Supermarket, the list of ingredients is very short. Not at all like this list.

So we all have different reasons for buying what we buy. Its like the question ‘What is healthy?’. We’re all looking for different things. Some people will only buy organic, and for others buying supermarket produce is fine, but they will not buy anything that contains palm oil. For some, they have allergies that prevent them buying certain items, some people cannot eat soy and some may suffer from health conditions (headaches, etc) that also means they choose certain products over others.

I’m afraid that this extensive list of ingredients from McDonalds, and remember this is in the sauces alone, would not tick many boxes for discerning buyers.

The world needs top WAKE UP to what they are purchasing, and what they are spending their dollar on – are YOU really happy with this extensive list of ingredients and not actually knowing the origin of what goes into your mouth and the mouths of your loved ones?
